Play American Mah Jongg Against the Computer — No Account Needed to Start
Can you play American Mah Jongg against the computer?
Yes — Friends at Mahjong lets you play American Mah Jongg against three computer-controlled opponents, right in your browser, with no account required to start.
How it works
You sit down at a table against three computer opponents and play a hand of American Mah Jongg — tiles, Charleston, calling and scoring. There's nothing to install before your first hand.
What's free, exactly
- Your first game needs no account at all. Open the table and play.
- That first free game is one hand, about a quarter of an hour — a chance to see how the table plays before you commit to anything.
- After that, you can create an account for four more free games, for five free games in total.
- Once you're a member, you can play longer sessions — four, eight, or sixteen hands.
None of this requires a credit card, and the free games don't disappear if you wait a week before coming back to them.
Who this is for
If your regular group can't get four people to the table this week, playing against the computer is a way to practice without rounding anyone up. It's also a low-risk way to try the game for the first time, or to get a feel for a table before inviting friends to a private game.
Starting a game
Go to the single-player table, pick your pace, and deal yourself in. If you decide you want more than the free hands — or want to play with friends instead of the computer — that's a separate step you can take once you know you like the table.
